• Notes

  4 DEC 1638 took Freeman's oath in Mass. tanner trade. Walter was one of the earliest settlers at Cohanet, afterwards namedTaunton. He and his brother John took up farms on the west bank of theTaunton River about one mile from the "Green." The section is now knownas Dean Street. He was also Selectman for 20 years, a Representative to the GeneralCourt, and a deacon of his church.
