Notes:

Nathaniel Wilson was a planter who initially settled at Roxbury. He mayhave been from Yorkshire, as in 1647 he appointed John Wilson,cloth-worker, of Halifax in Yorkshore to collect a legacy left to him byNathaniel Holgate of Halifax, deceased. "19 (6) 1648 Nathaniel Wilson ofRoxbury granted unto Joseph Wood of Ovenden in Yorkshire his right &title unto a certain Messuage in Ovenden wth all the lands unto the samebelonging. & This was by an absolute deed of sale Dat. 19 (6) 1648."[from Aspinwall's A Volume Relating to the Early History of Boston, pg.153].

Nathaniel sold his house in Roxbury Feb. 16, 1652 and removed toCambridge Village, now Newton. There he purchased 150 acres of land andbuilt his house close to the West Roxbury line, possibly in Muddy River.

He died Sep 17, 1692, aged 70 years. Sons Nathaniel & Samuel administeredhis estate, whose total valuation was 219 pounds, 14 shillings.

Nathaniel married Hannah CRAFTS on 2 Apr 1645 in Roxbury, Suffolk, Massachusetts. Hannah (daughter of Griffin CRAFTS and Alice UNKNOWN) was born in 1628 in Boston, Lincolnshire, England; died on 17 Aug 1692 in Roxbury, Suffolk, Massachusetts. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Isaac married Susan HOLGATE on 15 Mar 1611 in Halifax Parish, Yorkshire, England. Susan was born about 1575 in Sowerby, Halifax Parish, Yorkshire, England; died about 11 Nov 1632 in Warley, Halifax Parish, Yorkshire, England. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Griffin Crafts immigrated with wife Alice and daughter Hannah in theWinthrop Fleet of 1630, arriving in April and July. They are listed asbound for Roxbury, where they settled after arrival. There are reasonsfor believing he was from Yorkshire, England, and was born about 1600.Family tradition states that he came on the flagship 'Arabella'.

His name is spelled as Crofts, Crofte, Crafts, or Craft. Among hisdescendants, in eastern Massachusetts 'Craft' was favored, but in westernMassachusetts and Connecticut 'Crafts' was more common.

'Griffith Crofts' was admitted to the Roxbury church as member #45.Griffin was a freeman 18 May 1631. He was a deputy to the general courtin 1638-67 and a juryman in 1640. He was commissioned lieutenant of themilitia, September 10, 1653, and resigned his commission February 211675/76. He is supposed to have been part owner of a grist mill at ornear his homestead on Muddy River. He was selectman in 1650, and serveduntil 1673, with the exception of two years, 1665 to 1667, during whichtime he was one of a committee of three to give the selectmen orders. Hewas commissioner to end small causes from 1659 to 1670 inclusive. He wasoften on committees to decide boundaries and settle estates. The last fewyears of his life he was blind.

Griffin married Alice UNKNOWN about 1628 in Prob. Yorkshire, England. Alice was born about 1605 in Prob. Yorkshire, England; died in 1673 in Roxbury, Suffolk, Massachusetts. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
